We're a team of passionate Australian gamers who believe great games deserve honest, thorough, and thoughtful coverage.
ByteForge was founded in 2019 by a group of Sydney-based gamers who were frustrated with game reviews that felt rushed, sponsored, or out of touch with the Australian gaming experience. We set out to build something different: a platform where every review is earned through genuine playtime, and every opinion is our own.
Since then, we've grown into one of Australia's most trusted gaming publications, covering everything from indie gems to AAA blockbusters, and from local LAN events to international esports championships.
We're based in Sydney, NSW, but our writers and contributors span the entire country — from Brisbane to Perth, Melbourne to Darwin. We understand that gaming in Australia comes with its own unique context: server latency, regional release schedules, and a community that's as passionate as any in the world.
Our editorial values guide every piece of content we publish
We call it as we see it. If a game is disappointing, we say so — regardless of publisher relationships.
Minimum 20 hours of playtime before any review is written. No exceptions.
We always consider the Australian gaming experience: servers, pricing context, and community.
Our readers shape our coverage. We listen, we engage, and we grow together.
